Join our Patriotic Picnic!

There is something so magical about the 4th of July. Parades, fireworks, family, friends, sunny weather and amazing food- what could be better? Growing up, our family spent every 4th of July in the tiny town of my dad’s childhood. We all stayed at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, a 150-year-old historical home on Main Street, and after the small town parade, we had a huge family picnic on the front lawn. Such extended family came that sometimes I wondered if we welcomed a few passersby without knowing they weren’t actually blood relatives. But even if we did, they were more than welcome. It was one of the happiest, sweetest days of the year.

That family tradition is still going strong, and every year the spread of picnic foods is bigger and better. So to honor one of our family’s most treasured traditions, we want to share it with you! Here are some of our favorite recipes- tried and true, as well as fun and new- to make your 4th of July picnic extra memorable!

Giant S’mores Cookies

From one of the internet’s favorite bakers, these cookies scream summer without having to wait for a campfire. And the fun factor is multiplied when everyone sees how HUGE they are! Mmmmm, so yummy! Thanks, Mandy (Baking with Blondie)
