Valentine’s Day Decor | A Christmas Card Upcycle 💕

When it comes to decorating for any holiday, I fall squarely in the “less is more” camp. Which is the friendly cousin of the “keep it simple” principle. In other words, I’m a little bit lazy.

If I’m only putting out a few decor pieces to celebrate a season or holiday, they need to check a few boxes:

It has to be pretty!

It has to be meaningful/personal!

It would be nice if it were easy…

Inexpensive is a bonus!

This year I tried something new, and I love it so much that I will definitely be repeating it! It checks all the boxes, and has been so much fun for our family to display leading up to Valentine’s Day.

As I was taking down all of the Christmas cards sent to us by family and friends from near and far, I realized I wasn’t ready to be done seeing all those smiling faces that I love so much! So, I cut all those cards into hearts! And I attached those hearts to twine to make a garland!

I took every shortcut in the book. I did not trace a perfect heart before cutting. In fact, some of my hearts are downright wonky. But as part of the whole garland, you’d never notice! Some are small, some are big, some are tall and narrow, others are wide- whatever I needed to do to see everyone’s faces!

I even reused the blue painters tape that had held the cards on the wall all winter to attach the hearts to the twine I had on hand. My whole family has loved looking at our heart garland full of people that mean the world to us!
